For programmes & previews

Ramon Alexander is a leading exponent of Cape Jazz — a pianist, composer and educator, and a bridging figure between the founding generation of Cape Jazz legends and the players and students following them. Born and raised in the Moravian mission village of Mamre, he trained as a winemaker before devoting himself to jazz. He is an award-winning pianist, composer, curator, producer and musical director, a scholar of the goema rhythm, and head of the jazz division at Stellenbosch University. He led his trio at the Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek in March 2026, was musical director of the Abdullah Ibrahim Memorial Concert in June 2026, and has toured across Europe and Asia.
